Description

The Xenic 7 Ski Touring Binding from Fritschi sets the standard for lightweight pin bindings in terms of functionality and safety - especially for lighter skiers, the release can be optimally adjusted with its Z-values from 3 to 7.

Meanwhile, many can be light, but the Xenic scores beyond that with outstanding comfort, excellent energy transfer and, most importantly, the highest safety standards.

The rear jaw releases sideways and frontally. The values are set separately. To ensure that the safety function is also guaranteed in extreme situations, for example, when the ski flexes intensely on rough pistes, a length compensation of 10mm keeps the release values constant. Incidentally, the two mounting pins at the rear are pivoted, which minimises friction and thus wear.

The stoppers (not included) do not have to be locked at the push of a button, as is usual with many lightweight counterparts, but fold in automatically at the first step. This is a safety plus for skinning up in frosty steep terrain because the ski remains securely in place until the first step and cannot slip off unexpectedly. The matching stoppers for the Xenic 7 are available separately in widths of 85, 95 and 105mm.

The Swiss have also peppered the toe with innovative details. Even getting started is effortless thanks to the defined stop and wide step-in pedal.

Unlike other pin bindings, the pin jaws move horizontally, unlike rocker levers. This has the advantage that the binding cannot open unintentionally when hit from below and therefore does not have to be locked manually.

Also, in downhill mode, the binding is fitted with a kind of emergency release for frontal falls, as the pins open when the toe of the boot presses on the stop at an angle of 75° at the latest.

Thanks to the wide bore pattern, Fritschi's convincing entry into the world of lightweight construction inspires excellent power transmission and great downhill qualities. Your ski should be at least 70 mm wide.

With the Xenic 10 Ski touring binding, the Swiss have limited themselves to a single-stage climbing aid. This saves weight and is entirely sufficient considering the shaft rotation of modern touring boots of 60° and more.
