Description

The excellent Salewa Ortles Couloir Aplinberg Boots offer you a unique concept. The extremely lightweight, fully crampon-compatible gaiter boot combines an externally stabilised construction with outstanding cold and wet protection technology - the best prerequisites for your top performances in steep terrain, mixed and ice climbing.

The most striking detail is the carbon Kevlar unit on the outside, which protects the ankle area and is reminiscent of skating or touring ski boots. For easy entry and exit, you can fold the ankle protector system, which is held in place by the upper Velcro strap, to the rear or put it back on from there. The necessary joint also provides the mobility you need for unrestricted stride movement. Lateral stability and impact protection are extremely good with minimal weight.

With its waterproof yet breathable gaiter and superbly insulating materials, you can keep the elements off your feet right down to the tips of your toes. Wind, extreme cold or wetness has no easy game here. The heat generated by the body is additionally reflected and kept inside very well. The inner shoe and the sole unit are optimised for this purpose and coordinated with each other.

Very good abrasion protection, a cushioning as well as a rigid midsole with carbon element and the extra robust crampon mount - made of aluminium in the heel section - are perfectly prepared for extreme use. This also applies to the weight-saving Vibram® Litebase alpine sole.
